A fully restored Victorian cast iron garden seat in the serpent and twig pattern and dating to circa 1860. This beautiful rustic naturalistic casting is based on the English oak tree and depict branches adorned with oak leaves, acorns and intertwined serpents. The pattern was designed by McDowell, Stevenson & Co of Glasgow, circa 1840 and was later copied by other foundries, most notably by the John Finch Foundry, in Dudley Worcestershire who casted this bench.
